Ranis Lodge is nestled at the foothills of Bukit Sawak Forest Reserve in a small village of Kampung Nyior Chabang. We are right in the middle of Langkawi.  Its central location means that you are within 10-25 minutes driving to most attractions and eateries. You can find us on Google Maps and Waze.

Yes, Ranis Lodge is ideal for long stays.  We have had long stay guests staying with us ranging from 2 weeks to 11 months. All our units are designed with a separate bedroom and living room/open plan kitchen. It is equipped with a fully functional kitchen with a hob, an upright fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, chinaware, glassware, pots and pans, cooking utensils and silverware.  Rimba by Ranis units are fitted with electric hobs whereas our Ranis Lodge units have gas hobs. Groceries and launderette facilities are all within 10 minutes driving.

Ranis Lodge Villas are ideally suited for two guests. Our Rimba by Ranis units are suitable for a small family with up to 2 kids.

Yes, kids of all ages are welcomed.  Rimba by Ranis villas with a sofa bed in the living room are best suited for those who require additional sleeping arrangement for their kids.  Alternatively, we can place an additional single mattress in the bedroom. Please note that we only accept a certain number of youngsters at any time.

The minimum stay is 3 nights; however, we may be able to accommodate you for 2 nights. Please reach out to us for any questions.

Payment can be made through a transfer. We recommend Wise (formerly known as TransferWise) for international transfers for its low fees.

 

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • 48 hours free cancellation upon your reservation confirmation providing your reservation is at least 30 days ahead of your check in date.
  • 50% cancellation fee if cancelled more than 60 days of check in date.
  • 100% cancellation fee if cancelled within 60 days of check in date.

We serve a la carte breakfast 6 days a week Sunday-Friday. Breakfast is provided at no charge in return for donations which benefit the local community through Langkawi Charity Club or direct aid.  In the past, donations have helped our community in education, food aid, school uniforms and special aids. We thank you for your contributions and we hope to carry on through your continued generosity.

Stay tuned for the reopening of our dinner service. We are working very hard to finalize the details.

Yes, we can prepare vegetarian or vegan meals using local ingredients for you by prior arrangement.

No, at this moment we do not offer room service. Although guests are able to order delivery from GrabFood or FoodPanda applications. 

Yes, we offer free WIFI to all our guests which are available in all rooms and public areas.

Check-in is from 15:00, and check-out is until 11:00. You may request an early check-in or a late check-out which is subject to availability. We offer luggage storage for guests for before check-in and after check-out.

Our pool is open daily 08:00 to 20:00.  This may be subject to change during maintenance period. Proper swimming attire must be worn if using the pool.  For your safety and the safety of others, any form of breakable glassware or chinaware are not allowed in the pool area.

Yes, each unit is allocated one free parking space.

Yes, we recommend having your own transportation for the best flexibility and freedom to explore the island.  There is no public transport in Langkawi. A scooter or a compact car is sufficient to navigate around Langkawi.  Grab car is available, however there may be a wait during peak periods. If you are planning to visit the attractions and dine out, it is certainly better to arrange your own transportation.

We can help you with the rental of cars and motorcycles.  You will need your original driving license and passport as identification. Most cars in Langkawi are automatic and use unleaded fuel.  We drive on the left-hand side.  Car pricing is more expensive during the peak periods of public holidays, school holidays, Christmas and New Year. Please note that most rental agencies will require payment in cash.

Langkawi International Airport is 6.6km away or a 10 minutes’ drive. If you would like to have a car but have not yet make the arrangement, you can do that at the airport. During peak periods such as school holidays, weekend public holidays, Christmas and New Year periods, it is highly recommended to make prior transport arrangement.  Car pricing will be different between the peak and low season.

It can take anything from 10 to 30 minutes to get to nearly all the eateries and attractions. Having your own transportation will allow you to plan your day better.

The major supermarkets, Billion and Teow Soon Huat are situated in Kuah (20-25 minutes’ drive) There are many local smaller supermarkets dotted all over Langkawi which will provide the essential supplies.  Closest to Ranis Lodge are PL Soon Huat in Padang Matsirat (10 minute’s drive) and BHK Supermarket (10 minute’s drive).

There are also many roadside stalls which sells fruits. These are good places to purchase your fruits and it also helps the small individual sellers.

Langkawi offers many types of dining experience from high end restaurants to the roadside stalls depending on your mood and budget.

The main petrol stations are Petronas and Buraq Oil. The nearest to us is Petronas at Padang Matsirat, 10 minutes’ drive. 

You must pay first before filling up your car.  Head over to the cashier if you are paying cash.  If you are paying with credit card, you can use the credit card terminals at the pump.

The petrol price is centrally controlled by the government, is partially subsidized and the price is the same for all petrol stations.

ATMs are located at the banks, at the airport, at Cenang Mall and also at selected petrol stations.

Dobi Yusukie is the closest drop in launderette where you drop in/pick up your laundry. They charge by weight, currently rm4.50/kilo.  Pressing service is extra.

Alternatively, there are many do it yourself launderette around the island.

Ranis Lodge is located at the foothills of Bukit Sawak Forest Reserve.  The area supports a multitude of wildlife and Ranis Lodge has a green belt which is home to many animals.  The natural setting of Ranis Lodge comes with visits from the local wildlife. Be prepared for wildlife visits including insects and lizards outside and occasionally inside your villa.

Our domestic animals comprising turkeys, guinea fowls, hens, roosters, chicks, cats and a dog roam free at Ranis Lodge.

Yes, mosquitos are around all year round, sometimes more and sometimes less according to the weather.  We recommend packing in sufficient mosquito repellent in your luggage, otherwise you can also purchase them locally. Closing your doors and windows early in the evening will help you get a good night without the mosquitoes troubling your sleep.

Alcoholic beverages are available and can be purchased from the duty-free shops, certain supermarkets and at licensed restaurants and bars.

Langkawi is a duty-free island so the prices of alcoholic beverages are cheaper.  Do note that tobacco is no longer a duty-free item.
